Ping died on Friday March 29 He suffered from an agressive tumor under his shoulderblade and passed away in his sleep.
Five weeks old, and you fit in the palm of my hand;
As Real as they come; fierce hunter; comfort in sorrow; play-Ping; ever cheerful; dangerously fast; Ping-Rinkelding; buried in the garden; farewell, dear friend.
"Hello! You're back!" You purred, curling around my legs, "where have you been? I've missed you!" |
I brought him home from my riding school - he couldn't have been older than 5 weeks. He was so small that he could sleep on one hand : his body in your hand and his head on your wrist.
Specialized in pre- and post-food naps... catching fish, ducklings, rats, magpies, small rodents..
everything that moves, really. Except swans. That's not to say he never tried
catching one, but he's stopped doing that now <g>. Only cute when he wants
food - that means always cute.

The lovely Ping sitting by the waterside. Made on our old Canon, printed by hand by me.

What do you mean 'lounging' ?

Gimme gimme gimme!

Another one sent to me by my parents - he is looking at the butterfly that is sitting on the apple.
Ping got that name
because my brother and I (12 and 10 years old at the time) decided that he looked like a penguin. The reason that he isn't called 'Peng' is because, well, erm, we're Dutch - We write it 'pinguïn'
Padoek is an orange, tropical woodsort. See the colourphoto below and note how fitting the name is.

We aquired him via the Dutch equivalent of the RSPCA (not sure if that's the right acronym, and of course none of my dictionaries give it... but
lets assume that you know what I mean)
He was between 10 and 12 weeks old at that time, and while we were at the house
of the lady taking care of those cats (she had about 14 of them in her flat)
we tried to make the choice between him and a spotted, somewhat neurotic cat.
We made up our minds when this small red/white cat wandered up to us and happily
started playing with a bead on a string that hung down from my coat.
Certified Very Large Cat, terro^Wking of the neighbourhood. Likes to go with us in the boat, catches mainly moles
and rats (and can't kill the moles so leaves them for us on the lawn <g>)
Beware - if you don't want him on your lap you shouldn't sit on his chair
: he's very persistent.
Padoek likes to be outside, and
he likes it even more when one of us is outside as well. He tends to sit in front of the door asking to be let in - and when you open
the door he'll walk away, looking back to check if you're following.
He's most adorable, but sometimes he gets on my nerves because of the way
he manipulates people.
looking kingly. Made on our old Canon, printed by hand by me.
*stretch* 'Oh, hello there...'
Let. me. in. Now. Now... (Padoek doing his Jedi mindtricks)
